A humanitarian project
GRANT STATUS: Approved
GRANT NUMBER: GG1532604
This project is for funds to purchase a perinatal laparoscopy set for the Regional Perinatal Center in Ivano-Frankivsk Ukraine. The objective is to reduce the morbidity and fatality rates among pregnant women and infants en utero. Currently they have no way to perform minimally invasive surgeries. Because of the cost of the project, and the fact that it is in two distinct sets of equipment and quotes, we split it into two projects. This first project for the 2014-2015 year to get the base equipment purchased, then the second part of the project for the 2015-2016 year that will purchase the OB/GYN (or Perinatal) portion of the equipment and possibly also provide a vocational training team. When implemented, this project will provide the first laparoscopy set in this region of Ukraine and will provide the ability to perform less invasive surgeries for pregnant women. As a result we will see improved morbidity and mortality rates among pregnant women and infants.
